Chat safely with Murmelt and Nostr

Rynbw does not operate or moderate chats. The embedded Murmelt web client connects to the Nostr relays you select. These tips can help you reduce risks.

Choose relays carefully

Nostr is a decentralized network of independent relays. Each relay may have its own terms, privacy rules, and moderation process. Review this information before selecting a relay, and change relays if you do not trust its rules or operator.

Protect your private key

Your private Nostr key controls your identity. Never share it and back it up as Murmelt recommends. Rynbw cannot recover or reset a lost key.

Share personal data sparingly

A cryptographic identity does not automatically make everything you say anonymous. Do not share your full name, home address, financial details, passwords, or other identifying information with strangers. Take particular care with requests for money, external links, and files.

Block and report

Murmelt provides tools to block users and report them to the relays you use. Reports are not reviewed by Rynbw; they are handled according to each relay operator's process. For illegal media stored on external Blossom servers, also contact the relevant server operator and, where appropriate, the competent authorities.

Limits of Rynbw

Rynbw cannot read messages on the Nostr network, ban users across the network, or remove content from third-party relays or Blossom servers. If you face threats or abuse, end the conversation, block the contact, and report it to the relevant relay or, in urgent cases, your local authorities.
